This article provides a detailed description of the Wall Properties window up to version 12.4a2 for later versions click here. When you have drawn an external wall, you can make adjustments in its properties. This can be done whilst you are drawing the room or once you have completed the room.
Note: To change properties of an internal or false wall see article Interior Wall Properties
Whilst you are drawing the room
As you draw each external wall, a + symbol appears at one end of the wall. If you click on the + symbol this brings up the essential wall properties.
To see the full range of Wall Properties, as shown below, click the Advanced settings arrow.
Once you have completed the room
Click to highlight the external wall in Room definition mode, right click and select Wall properties...
-
Length
This field shows the length of the wall/edge. The value can be edited.
-
Thickness
This field shows the thickness of the wall. The value can be edited.
In Winner, room objects will automatically be fitted to the wall’s depth when you alter the thickness of the wall. This applies if the room object has the same depth as the original wall, or if the room object is deeper than the new wall. In both cases they will automatically adjust to the new thickness.
-
Angle
This field shows the angle of the wall in relation to the previous wall/edge. The value can be edited.
-
Invisible
If you want the wall to be invisible, you must tick the box. The invisible wall will appear as a dotted line in the plan drawing.
This is described in the section How to make a wall invisible.
Note: When you set a wall to Invisible, the measurements/automatic dimensions will be turned OFF for the relevant walls. In addition the measurements on the neighbouring walls will disappear. If these are to be retained, 'from both sides' needs to be selected in Wall properties, under Automatic dimensions. This will need to be done for each wall where the measurements need to be shown. -
Name
This field shows the name/number of the wall/edge.
If you are using automatic allocation of numbers, Winner will automatically allocate a number in this field.
If you change this field, Winner will turn OFF the automatic numbering of walls.
In other words new walls or sectional views that you create from now on will not be allocated a number automatically. This would need to be allocated manually in Wall properties for each new wall drawn.
-
Colour
If you click on the Colour button, you can select which colour the wall is to have. The Assign material to surface window will appear.
-
Skirting
Auto: The skirting will automatically be turned on.
On: The skirting will automatically be turned on.
Off: The skirting will automatically be turned off.
-
Coving
Auto: The coving will automatically be turned on.
On: The coving will automatically be turned on.
Off: The coving will automatically be turned off.
-
Movement of adjacent walls
In this group box you can control the adjacent walls when changing the length of a wall by selecting one of the following options:
-
Move previous wall
The previous wall will be moved, and the room stays closed.
-
Move next wall
The next wall will be moved, and the room stays closed.
-
Move all subsequent walls
All subsequent walls will be moved, and the room will not stay closed. This setting is default.
-
Automatic dimensions
In this group box you can select whether the measurements should be shown in the plan drawing and in the elevation and if so how.
NOTE: Your point of orientation regarding the directions "right" and "left" is that you are standing inside the room looking at the relevant wall.
From both sides - Dimensions from both sides of the wall are shown. This option is default for visible walls.
From left side only - Only dimensions from the left side of the wall are shown.
From right side only - Only dimensions from the right side of the wall are shown.
-
Off - The automatic dimensions on the wall are turned off.
This option is default for invisible walls. If the field Invisible is ticked, this field will automatically be set to off.
-
Alignment
Set the measurements shown to Auto or Close to wall.
Auto will align the measurement to the outer most wall on the side of the plan it is placed, as long as the measurement does not cross over another wall:
Close to wall will align the measurement close to the wall, ignoring other walls it may conflict with.
