Security policies

In Winner Design, users with Full access can use the Security policies function to assign security roles to other users. Each user is given a password that is linked to this security role. The security role assigned to a user determines their level of access in Winner and what permissions that user has. For more information on creating security roles, see Creating / Editing a role.

Note: The Full role gives the user access to all functions in Winner, including the set up of a security policy. When a new program is installed the Full role is automatically selected.

IMPORTANT! For single installations assigned security roles will only apply on that device.  If you are on a network installation, security roles can only be assigned by the user who has full access rights to the server.

Users with Full access can choose how to set up security roles:

• All users are registered in the system, and unknown users have no access to Winner.
  
  
• The access control system can be set up to request a password:
  - when starting Winner or
  - when necessary. For example, when restricted information is being accessed, such as key figures in quotation set up and summary.

At Project level:

1. Select Global settings > Security > Security policies.
   
   
2. In the Security policies window, tick the check box Enable security
   
   
3. Click New user.
   
   
4. In the User properties window, enter credentials in the fields and click OK.
   
   
5. Verify the password by entering it a second time and click OK.
   The new user will now show in the list.

At Project level:

1. Select Global settings > Security > Security policies.
   
   
2. In the Security policies window, select the user name from the list.
   
   
3. Click the User roles button.
   
   
4. In the User roles window, under Available roles, select the security role.
   
   
5. Use the ---> button to move the selected role into the Selected roles field.
   Note: Use the <--- to remove a role from Selected roles field.
   
   
6. Click OK to confirm your choices.

In Winner several default roles are defined. The roles give access to different parts of Winner, and can be linked to the users. This is useful if certain users’ access in Winner are to be appropriate to the individuals' tasks. The roles that are standard in Winner are shown in descending order, beginning with the Full role. The role with the lowest level of access is the Installer role. The permissions of a role can be seen in the Edit roles window.
