Flex: Archiving and retrieving an archived Project

In this article we will look at how to archive a project, how to view an archived project and unarchiving or restoring an archived project.  This is all done via the Flex Platform.

 

To archive a Project

This procedure is used to store projects that are no longer in use but maybe needed in the future.

Projects that are stored will not appear in the project list, both on the Flex Platform and within your desktop app.  This will increase the search speed when looking for projects. 


Please Note: You cannot archive projects if you do not have access to Project Component access. For more information click here. 

  1. On the Flex Platform, click the Projects icon on the left hand menu bar.

  2. Select the row the project is on by clicking between the Project Nr. and Project Name.
    Note: Do not click the name or number as this will open the project.

  3. Click the Archive project icon on the toolbar:

  4. The project is now archived.

To view an archived Project

  1. On the Flex Platform, click the Projects icon on the left hand menu bar.

  2. Click in the Archived check box, which you will need to scroll across the top tool bar to see.

  3. You will now see a list of archived projects.
    Note: You can edit the details or open the design of an archived project without having to restore it.   If you open the archived design and edit it, you then have the option of saving it (which will overwrite the existing design stored on the Flex platform) or doing a save as (which will save it as a new alternative on the Flex platform).  Whichever option is taken the project will remain archived until you restore it.

 

To restore an archived Project

  1. Once you have opened the list of archived projects

  2. Select the row the project is on by clicking between the Project Nr. and Project Name.
    Note: Do not click the name or number as this will open the project.

  3. Click the Restore project icon on the top toolbar.

  4. You will see a message saying that the project has been successfully restored.

  5. The project will now be listed in the projects list, both on the Flex Platform and within your desktop app.
    Note: to return to the project list view, untick the Archived check box.
