In the 12.6a2 update there have been improvements on how the catalogue browser search works in Winner Flex, making it faster, more predictable, and easier to use. The search experience now behaves more like familiar web and browser searches, helping users find products quickly—even with partial or approximate input.
- Searches are no longer triggered on every keystroke.
- The search runs only when you press Enter, improving performance and responsiveness.
- After pressing Enter, a drop‑down list of suggested results is displayed.
- You can search using partial product codes or free‑text descriptions—there’s no need to enter the full code.
How catalogue search works
The search supports both code‑based and free‑text searches:
- Code search
Finds products where the product code starts with the value you enter (for example,U60). - Free‑text search
Finds products where the search term appears anywhere in the combined Code and Short Description.
Additional behaviour:
- Special characters are ignored, making searches more forgiving.
- Results are limited to the currently selected supplier and active filters.
- An in‑memory cache is used to keep searches fast and prevent the user interface from freezing.
Search suggestions
After you press Enter, search suggestions are displayed in a drop‑down list:
- Up to 10 suggestions are shown at one time.
- Suggestions are ordered by recently used items within the current search scope.
- If fewer than 10 results are available, only the matching items are shown.
- If no matches are found, a clear No results message is displayed.
Exact match behaviour
If pressing Enter returns one exact (100%) product code match:
- The product is inserted directly into the design.
- The search field is cleared.
- The suggestion drop‑down is not shown.
If there is no exact match, a list of relevant suggestions is displayed instead.
Keyboard navigation
You can work with search suggestions entirely from the keyboard:
- Arrow Up / Arrow Down – Move through the suggestion list.
- Enter – Insert the selected product into the design.
- Tab – Close the suggestion list and continue with normal field navigation.
