After rendering, an image might end up being not ideal for the display of the kitchen, for example when the inside is dark while the outside appears too bright. The reason for this is often a lack of Interior luminosity which can be fixed in various ways or by using a combination of these methods.
To manage the light settings in a rendered image, try Setting the Lighting profile, Defining light properties, Resetting the render view settings, Placing lighting in the room, Limiting the amount of light sources in the room, or Placing an Invisible light source.
Setting the Lighting profile
- Right-click on the Perspective window.
- Select Lighting.
- Choose the Day (Interior lights on) setting.
Defining light properties
- Right-click on the Perspective window.
- Select Lighting.
- Click on Define profile...
- In the Light settings window under Outdoor light set the Outdoor light to 50%.
Note: Direct sunlight can be adjusted in this window, too, and the Sun's angle can be adjusted in the Sun position tab.
Resetting the render view settings
- Right-click on the Perspective window.
- Select Perspective.
- Click on Render view settings.
- Click on Default in the bottom left corner of the Render quality settings window.
Placing lighting in the room
In Furnishing Mode,
- Click on Standard products on the right-hand side of the screen.
- Go to Ornaments > Lighting.
- Select a simple row of light spots and click OK.
- Ensure the height position is set to Ceiling (Down) in the Set height position window and click OK.
- In the Set parameters window, set the Width to the approximate length of the kitchen and click OK.
- Place the lights in front of the kitchen furniture without being too close.
This will illuminate the main part of the design and direct attention towards the kitchen units.
Limiting the amount of light sources in the room
Having multiple light sources for design purposes might produce a render image with irregular or unfavourable lighting. It can be helpful to turn off the additional light sources to not compete with the main light sources.
- Right-click on the Perspective window.
- Select Lighting.
- Click on Define profile...
- Under Other light sources click on the items in the list and they will show as selected in the plan and perspective.
- Move the slider down to 0lm to turn off the light source.
Placing an Invisible light source
If an area in a plan is too dark but you don't want to place another visible light source in this spot, using an Invisible light source can be a good substitute.
- Click on Standard products on the right side of the screen.
- Go to Ornaments > Lighting > Miscellaneous.
- Select Invisible light source and click OK.
- In the Objects parameters window, select Point light to light up the general area or select Spotlight for a focused light source.
- Click OK.
- Position the light source in the plan.
- With the Perspective window active, do a quick render by pressing Ctrl + R to check the effect on the rendered image.
Try different settings, heights and positions to find the best place to light up the shadowed area.
