In Alternative mode, Free-Drawn Measurements not directly associated with units or objects can be added to your plan. This article gives instructions on how to add a free-drawn measurement in the plan and elevation and how to change the length of a free-drawn measurement.
Add a Free-Drawn Measurement in the plan

In Alternative mode, select the Add free drawing measurements icon in the Toolbar.

Ensure your Plan window shows the area you want to draw the measurement.

Click on the Draw tool icon in the Toolbar.

In the Plan window, left-click and release your mouse where you want your measurement to begin.
- The cursor will now be placed at this location.

Left-click hold and drag the mouse to where you want your measurement to end. While still holding, you can adjust the length and angle of the measurement by moving your mouse.
Note: While altering the length using the mouse, the measurement will move in increments of 100mm. While holding, you can press and hold keys - Ctrl to reduce this to 10mm or Ctrl and Shift to reduce to 1mm.

When placed, release the left mouse button.

Click on Select mode icon when you have finished, this will close the Add free drawing measurements mode.
Note: The length can also be adjusted in the Measure Properties. See below for details.
Add a Free-Drawn Measurement in the elevation

In Alternative mode, select the Add free drawing measurements icon in the Toolbar.

Ensure your Elevation window shows the area you want to draw the measurement.

Click on the Draw tool icon in the Toolbar.

In the Plan window, left-click and release your mouse where you want your measurement to begin.
- The cursor will now be placed at this location.

Left-click hold and drag the mouse to where you want your measurement to end. While still holding, you can adjust the length of the measurement by moving your mouse.
Note: To draw a diagonal line press and then release the space bar
Note: While altering the length using the mouse, the measurement will move in increments of 100mm. While holding, you can press and hold keys - Ctrl to reduce this to 10mm or Ctrl and Shift to reduce to 1mm.

Click on Select mode icon when you have finished, this will close the Add free drawing measurements mode.

Changing the length of a Free-Drawn Measurement

In Alternative mode, select the Add free drawing measurements icon in the Toolbar.

Click on the Select Tool icon next to Add free drawing measurements in the Toolbar.
- In the Plan window, click the measurement you want to adjust.

Right-click and select Properties, or press Ctrl + F5.

In the Measure Properties window, select the Total length box at the bottom of the window.
- Enter your new length.

Press OK.

Click on Select mode icon when you have finished, this will close the Add free drawing measurements mode.
