In 2020 Fusion version 9.2 onwards, it will be possible to extract contacts and designs (.ROM files) out of Fusion and import them into Winner Flex desktop app. Once imported it will then be possible to open the designs in Fusion via the Flex platform.
This article covers how to:
- Export contacts and documents from Fusion
- Import the Zip file into Flex
- Open Fusion in a read only mode
Export contacts and documents from Fusion
- Find the file location for 2020 Fusion by right clicking on the Fusion icon and select Open file location.
- Within the same folder, double-click on the Database Utility Tool.exe to open the Maintenance Options dialog.
- Select the option Extract Customers and this will export the entire customer database from Fusion. If you also decide to extract designs (.ROM) files you need to select the box Include designs created since and enter a date range for the designs.
NOTE!: It is possible to perform this action on multiple occasions. For example, initially extract contacts only and then at a later date extract contacts and designs.
- Once you have selected your options click OK.
- You will see the progress of the extraction in the window.
NOTE!: If an extraction has been performed previously then the user will be warned with a pop-up, click Yes to proceed and No to abort.
- Once the extraction is complete the Zip file will be stored in a fixed location in the Master Storage Path (it will not be possible to configure or choose an alternative location). To open the location of the Zip file, click OK on the Extract Customers dialog box.
Import the Fusion contacts and documents into Flex
- Go to the Flex Platform at: https://flex.compusoftgroup.com
- Select the cog and go to the Admin area > Company Settings > Shops
NOTE!: The option to import contacts must be activated by our support team.
- Select the shop you want to import into and select the Contacts import in the top tool bar.
- When prompted with the below window click the arrow icon and browse to the Zip file, that you created earlier, in your Downloads folder.
- Click Upload.
- The Zip file will now be uploaded to the Flex platform. You will see a progress bar on the lower right corner of your screen.
NOTE!: You must wait until the upload is completed before leaving the page. You can start multiple uploads at the same time. All active processes are visible as shown below:
- When the import process is complete the Zip files will automatically be extracted and will run in the background.
- Select View report to see the number of imported contacts and verify that there were not any issues.
NOTE: Flex will detect duplications of contacts and documents and will flag that in the report.
Open Fusion documents from Flex in a read only mode
It is possible to open a Fusion design file, from the Flex platform, in a read only mode:
- Open the Flex platform and select the Contacts tab.
- Click to select the contact required.
- Click the Documents tab.
- Select the file in the document list and then click Open on the tool bar.
NOTE!: To use the read only mode of Fusion you must have the Fusion installation on that PC as it was when used to export the data.
- When the Fusion design is opened, you will see a banner informing you Fusion is running in read only mode. You will be able to render, print and export but, design and editing capabilities are disabled.
