In Winner, users can add a point(s) to an external wall to split it and create a new section(s). A section can then be moved, using the Add point and Parallel shift functions. This is useful for adding an extra room to a design, for example a utility room, or altering the dimensions of a room without deleting any external walls.
This video shows how to add two points and split the external wall into three sections, then offsetting the central section.
At Alternative level, in Room definition mode:
- Left-click an external wall to select it.
- Right-click and select Add point.
- In the Split line in two (add point) dialogue box, enter a value in millimetres (mm) in the field for Distance A or Distance B.
Entering a value in Distance A will create the new section on the left side of the wall.
Entering a value in Distance B will create the new section on the right side of the wall.
Note: Left and right are determined as if the user was facing the selected wall. - Click OK.
- If the wall is to be split/sectioned into more than two pieces, repeat steps 1. to 3. until the required section is created.
Note: Walls are automatically renumbered as new sections are created. - Left-click the new section of the external wall to select it.
- Right-click and select Parallel shift.
- In the Parallel shift line dialogue box, enter a value in millimetres (mm).
Note: Entering a + or - will determine the direction of the shift. - Click OK.
Note: An internal wall can be added with a door in to section off the newly created area. See articles Draw an interior wall and Inserting an object into an interior wall.
