This article provides guidance on placing a Belfast sink (or Butler's sink) into your plan.
The measurements of the Belfast sink used from Standard products in this example is:
- Height: 260mm
- Depth: 800mm
- Width: 560mm
Prepare the base unit
Depending on the catalogue used, there may be a unit ready to be under your Belfast sink. In our example, we will prepare our own from the Winner Demo catalogue:
- In your Alternative, place your units and the base unit you intend to have for your Belfast sink base. In this example, UTD80-5 is used.
- Double-click on UTD80-5 to go the Object parameters window.
- Click on Parameters.
- The height needs to take into account the height of the sink and the worktop thickness.
Select Height.
In the text field at the bottom, reduce the height of the unit by 300 - This figure is the height of the Belfast sink plus the thickness of the worktop.
In this instance, we can enter 750-300, and Winner will calculate this to 450. - Still in parameters, select Worktop. In the drop-down at the bottom, set it to Off.
- Click OK.
In the Elevation window, you can see the space now ready for the Belfast sink.
Draw the filler for the back of the Belfast sink
The worktop will need to run behind the Belfast sink. By drawing a wide enough filler at the back of the units and flush to each side, a worktop will automatically be placed on top of it.
- In the Plan window, ensure that unit UTD80-5 is visible. It is advisable to zoom in on the unit.
- Click on the Free drawing of filler icon in the Toolbar.
- Select the Draw rectangle icon in the Toolbar.
- Left-click on the back left corner of UTD80-5 to begin drawing the filler.
- Now left-click and hold on the back right corner of UTD80-5.
- While holding the left mouse button, drag along the right hand side of the unit to the correct width required. In this case, we will set it to 100mm.
When at the right size, let go of the mouse button. - In the Set height position window, select Under worktop from the dropdown.
- If asked if you want to cut away the intersecting part, click No.
- In the Select product window, choose a code reference and press OK, or click Skip.
- In the Object properties window, enter the height of the filler in this example 300 and click OK.
Place the Belfast sink
Belfast sinks can be placed with the drainer at the back or on the side. In this example the sink will be placed with the drainer to the right hand side.
- In the Plan window, move the cursor to the right hand side of the unit next to the filler and ensure the cursor is pointing away from the filler:
- Click to highlight the unit the sink will be placed on.
- Click the Standard Products button on the right hand side of the screen.
- In the Select object window, click the Sinks drop down and select With one sink.
In this example the Belfast style standard product W320 215 is used. - Select the sink and click OK.
- You will be asked to select a code for the sink. In this example, click Skip.
- In the Set height position, select Other and select Over selected object in the Height types drop-down. Click OK.
- In the Set parameters window, enter the measurements of the Belfast sink:
Width: 560
Height: 260
Depth: 800
Click OK. - In the Select drawing window, you are asked to select a tap. As this will be placed on the filler, click Skip.
The sink will now be placed on top of the unit.
Place the tap
- Click to highlight the filler behind the sink.
- Press Standard products.
- Click on the Sinks drop-down and select Combination taps.
- Select your tap and click the Centre object button.
- In the select code screen choose a code or click Skip.
- In the Set height position window, select On worktop (up).
