How to import an .egi file (Room information file)

Compusoft works together with many 3D measurement providers. If you get a 3d measurement file from your service provider which has the file format .EGI, this can be imported into Winner.

This article gives instructions on how to Import laser measurements into an existing plan and how to Import laser measurements as a new plan.

Important: please contact Compusoft support before you begin, so you can get access to the required Winner extension (this may require an additional fee).

Import laser measurements into an existing plan

1. Open the alternative, where you want to import the information from the laser measurement.
   
   
2. Select Room definition mode.
   
   
3. Click Additional modules on the menu bar.
   
   
4. Select Import room information>Import Edigraph file.
   
   
5. In the Select file window, browse to where the saved measurement file (.EGI) is located, select it and click Open.
   
   
6. After importing the file, the original room is replaced by the new imported room.
   In this example, before importing the measurements, the walls are all set at 90° degrees and, as can be seen, the after import plan has new angles.
   
   
   
   
   
7. Select Furnishing mode to check if furniture needs repositioning.
   
   
8. If it does, select all objects in the room by clicking in the plan and pressing Ctrl and A on your keyboard.
   
   
9. In order to fit the cabinets flush to the wall, click on one of the corner snapping points and drag them with the mouse past the relevant outside wall.  Winner will automatically adjust the angle.

10. Drag the furniture to the wall and use the cursor and the function Offset in order to place the furniture in the new room situation.  For instructions on how to do this see article Change position: Moving an object a desired distance in millimetres

Note: After the import, check if the current plan matches the customer's site or whether you may need to make further adjustments!

Import laser measurements as a new plan (pre-measurements)

These instructions are for if there is no existing plan.

At Project level with a new Project open.

1. Click Additional modules on the menu bar.
   
   
2. Select Import room information>Import Edigraph file.
   
   
3. In the Select file window, browse to where the saved measurement file (.EGI) is located, select it and click Open.
   
   
4. Enter the Select model data as would normally be done at the opening of a new alternative.
   
   
5. The imported room with the laser measurements will now have been imported.
   
   

NOTE: If some measurements are missing or incorrect please contact your service provider first, since Compusoft has no influence on the selected options.
