Before inserting an installation symbol on a wall, on a sectional view, or on the floor or ceiling of your room, you should choose the wall you wish to use as a reference for the dimensions.
When inserting the installation symbol on a wall or sectional view
In Room definition mode:
- Select the wall or sectional view.
Note: for more information on how to put an installation object on a sectional view see article How can I attach installations to a sectional view?
- Select the Add installation symbol icon:
- Once you have selected the required symbol and clicked OK, the Select placement window will appear.
- In Distance from choose the side from where your dimensions will start (left or right, top or bottom). These are referenced as if you are standing facing the wall, or from the direction of the view arrow on a sectional view.
- You can select the Distance row and enter the exact distance measurement in the field at the bottom of the window.
- Click OK.
When inserting the installation symbol on the floor or ceiling
Note: For how to insert an installation symbol on the floor or ceiling see, How to insert an installation object or symbol on the floor or ceiling.
- When you see the Select placement for object window select any of the Distance from options in the drop-down menu = Closest side, Right or Left. Winner will automatically enter the distances from this starting reference.
Note: Winner design will suggest the parameter Closest side as a default option. This means, for example, that if your nearest wall is the one on the left side, the measurements will automatically be inserted from the wall on the left.
Exception: If you have ever worked with this wall before (that is the closest wall), the new measurements won't be applied if they contradict the selection made in Wall properties. For example, in the Wall properties window, under Automatic dimensions you may have selected the option Only from the right side or Only from the left side, this choice takes priority over all relative measurements.
If the installation is already in place
If you forget to work with the Distance from parameter, when placing the installation for the first time, you can find it later by:
- Select the installation symbol and click on the right mouse button.
- Select Installation properties and then click on the Placement field in the Object parameters window. You can alter the Distance from reference point using the drop-down menu at the bottom of the window.
