Users of Winner occasionally need a local copy of Designs .DRW files, so that if, for example, a design/plan gets corrupted or you accidentally close the program without saving, or delete a Design, the backup can be imported from the local export folder. These backups are created:
- Automatically - every 10 minutes.
- Each time you do a manual save.
Recovering a deleted Design
If a Design has been deleted in error, it is possible to reinstate the Design from the local backup.
NOTE! This will be at the last save point for this Design. Please see below for when backups are created and how they are named.
- Select Design from the toolbar.
- From the dropdown, select Import and then From file.
- Find the backup of the file and select Open.
Winner Design users follow this file path Export/Project/Design/Backup
Winner Flex users follow this file path Export/Flex/Company/Project/Design/Backup
- Winner will ask you to name the Design and it will be imported into the project.
Creation of the backups
These local backups are created as follows:
- Automatically every 10 minutes once a drawing is opened, also each time Save is clicked (or Ctrl + S) in a design; a backup file is created in the local Export folder.
- For Winner Design users it is created in Export/Project/Design/Backup
- For Winner Flex users it is created in Export/Flex/Company/Project/Design/Backup
NOTE!: Auto Save in case of a crash works as usual.
Naming of the files
Only the last two Saves are kept and they will be named as follows:
- 01_Design_save_(ProjectNr-Space-Nr-DesignNr)_current.drw
- 02_Design_save_(ProjectNr-Space-Nr-DesignNr)_backup.drw
01 will always be the last backup made automatically or manually i.e. the newest file.
02 will always be the previous backup made automatically or manually i.e. the older file.
Note: When you open a design that has an existing backup this will be saved as Design_save_(ProjectNr-Space-Nr-DesignNr)_last_open.drw
In this way, designs that have been worked on for several weeks will not be lost, whether regular manual Saves are performed or not. If the worst does happen, the Design can be imported from File as a new Design; see article Importing a Design from the Flex database or local Winner database
Creation of backup when storage is interrupted
If your internet crashes, or in the case that someone unlocks a design in the Flex platform and makes changes while that user is offline, Designs are saved in the Export Directory in the Backup Folder.
The simplest way to find these is:
At Project level
- Highlight the Design.
- Click Design on the menu bar and select View Export Directory.
- Open the Subfolder Backup.
- Select the backup .DRW file and click Open.
