To ensure Winner functions as intended it may be necessary for IT professionals to store administrator rights, or admin rights, on the end user's PC due to restrictive user rights policies implemented by the end user's company.
Winner Design
Storing administrator rights
- Install Winner Design with administrator rights or set administrator rights following installation.
See User rights for Winner Design.
- Start the Windows Run application.
- Start Winner Info in administrative mode by entering the command line: c:\winner\bin\wininfo.exe /adm and clicking OK.
- In the Winner - System information window, select the Program information tab.
NOTE!: From Winner 12.2a8 the elevated account details are shown in Winner Info > Download Parameters.
- Under Credentials for elevated account, enter the administrator information into the User name, Password and Domain fields.
- Click Save & Close.
Technical Information
- The Credentials for elevated account section is only available if Winner Info is run in administrative mode with the command line provided.
- Information entered into the Credentials for elevated account section will be stored in an encrypted file named Elevated.cre which can be found in C:\Winner\DB\Libs.
- The Elevated.cre file can be copied to another PC if that PC has the same registered administrator account and password on it.
- If this information is not saved, or if the account or password are invalid, other users will receive a UAC authentication request asking for the credentials.
NOTE!: From version 12.2a8 elevated account details are shown in Winner Info under the Download Parameters tab.
Winner Flex
Storing administrator rights
From Winner Flex 12.2a8 the below functionality has been added to make it possible to run Winner Flex and grant administrator rights where it's needed for updates.
- Install Winner Flex with administrator rights or set administrator rights following installation.
See User rights for Winner.
- Start the Windows Run application.
- Start Winner Info in administrative mode by entering the command line: c:\winner\bin\wininfo.exe /adm and clicking OK.
- In the Winner - System information window, select the Download Parameters tab.
- Under Credentials for elevated account, enter the administrator information into the User name, Password and Domain fields.
- Click Save & Close.
Technical Information
- The credentials will be synchronised on level of shop (each shop can have different credentials).
- If the login with elevated account fails, we continue with the standard user (Use Case Home Office).
- To use the information from Flex, the WinInfo.exe has to be started with a /FLEX command added. When starting WinInfo from the WinnerFlex.exe process, this command is added by the winnerflex.exe program.
- If WinInfo is started manually, and the /FLEX command added, the last used shop context is used. If this is not defined, the login WEB UI is opened from WinInfo.
- To use the information from Winner, the WinInfo.exe has to be started with a /ADMIN command added.
- The existing routine for the elevated account is still available to use. For example, if credentials are present, these are first tried to use to start the relevant process. If this fails, a normal startup will be performed instead.
